The Walking Dead, AMC's zombie-genre drama, won its first Emmy Award this week at the Television Arts and Sciences 2011 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The comic book turned television show won the Emmy for Best Prosthetic Make-up for a Series.
It may seem like an obvious choice for The Walking Dead to win that category, but it still had to beat out some popular shows like, Game of Thrones, Glee, Grey's Anatomy, and The Cape. Greg Nicotero, make-up artists and co-executive producer, accepted the award on behalf of the KFB SFX crew.
Unfortunately, The Walking Dead was not as lucky, losing in two other categories, Outstanding Special Effects and Outstanding Sound Editing. But let's hope this is just the beginning of future Emmy's to come.
